SWP Calculator – FAQs
Is the return guaranteed?
No. SWP results depend on fund performance. The calculator provides projections based on your assumptions.
How is SWP different from dividends or FD interest?
SWP redeems a small number of units each time so the rest of your corpus stays invested and can grow. FD interest is fixed and funds are locked for a term.
What is a safe withdrawal rate?
As a starting band, many retirees test 4%–6% per year (≈0.33%–0.5% monthly). Use our calculator with your return & inflation assumptions to validate longevity.
Should I use Step-Up SWP?
Step-up (e.g., 3–8% yearly) helps maintain lifestyle against inflation but can reduce longevity. Compare results with/without step-up before deciding.
How long will my corpus last?
It depends on corpus size, expected return, withdrawal amount, frequency, and step-ups. The result panel shows whether the corpus sustains the full period or when it exhausts.
What happens if markets fall sharply?
Withdrawals during a drawdown redeem more units (“sequence risk”). Consider balanced asset allocation, lower withdrawal in bad years, or keeping 6–12 months of cash buffer.
Can I change, pause, or stop my SWP?
Yes—most AMCs allow modifications or pauses anytime. Unused corpus stays invested.
How is tax calculated on SWP?
Each payout is treated as a redemption. Capital-gains tax depends on fund type (equity/debt), holding period, and prevailing tax rules. This tool shows pre-tax figures.
Does the calculator adjust for inflation?
Yes—set an inflation rate. We show the approximate real value of total withdrawals so you can judge purchasing power.
Which funds are suitable for SWP?
Many investors use balanced advantage/hybrid or a mix of equity & short-duration debt funds for stability + growth. Choose based on risk profile and horizon.
Can I reinvest SWP proceeds?
Yes. Some park monthly SWP into liquid funds to manage expenses while retaining surplus cash efficiency.
Can I export my SWP schedule?
Use the Download SWP CSV button under results to export the complete projection.
